On this ride we ride through many Queens and Brooklyn neighborhoods to explore the nether reaches of Queens to Laurelton which borders Nassau County.

For those who are interested, the paper cue sheet lists all the different neighborhoods we ride through.  And for those who use turn by turn audio directions on your iphone, the audio will recite the neighborhood in addition to the turn instructions.

Yes, 6 Covered Bridges plus a Pony Box Bridge (only the trusses are covered). All of which are in Pennsylvania. Also great views of the Delaware River from the Bull's Island Bridge. This is a unique cycling experience for NYC riders in region, riding surface, landscape and local architecture.

Vertical gain on Ridewithgps might be inflated, although there is definite climbing.

Delaware Canal towpath in PA to New Hope, back on Delaware Raritan Canal towpath in NJ. Gravel surfaces great for hybrids and mtn bikes, suitable for road bikes, but I think you would want to have at least 20 mm tires.

This urban adventure goes down the Jersey side of the Hudson and offers spectacular views of Manhattan. You'll start by going thru a couple of very pleasant neighborhoods, with a pit stop at a cafe/boutique (don't buy anything more than you can carry!). Once you get onto JFK Boulevard, stop a couple of times for photos. Then look for all the history along the route: the site of Burr & Hamilton's duel, with a statue depicting it; several moving 9/11 monuments; WWII monuments; Black Tom Island.

This ride through New Jersey horse country is spectacularly beautiful with quiet country roads, horses, and the smell of fresh hay.  It is just shy of 50 miles but is challenging with almost 3000 feet of climbing.  Jockey Hollow Visitor Center is good restroom stop and historic site with plenty of Revolutionary War plaques and information.  There are several lunch options in Gladstone but we like the Gladstone Market which is right on Main Street at intersection of Dewey Ave.  There is indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor seating right by a creek.  On the re

Trains from NYC Penn Station run hourly, riding time 90 minutes each way. 2 bikes can be carried on either end of the double decker train cars, flipping seats up. You can secure your bikes with thin rope, sitting on seats across the aisle.
