Historic mid-19th Century African-American burial ground with markers and plaques that tell the history. Call ahead to arrange for the cemetery to be open and an historian to meet you there (201-336-7267). Lunch at Palermo's Cafe & Bakery immediately after your history lesson. There's a coffee/pit stop in West Englewood at mile 11, but the town closes down on Saturdays and Jewish holidays. In that case, detour down to Palisade Ave. and stop at the Field House in Milton Votee Park. Then you can stay on Palisade all the way to the right turn onto E. Main St.

Gorgeous ride through farmlands and rolling countryside. Starts at the Princeton Junction train station, continuing  through the wealthy outskirts of Princeton itself, to the Delaware River and  Washington’s Crossing State Park, site of the famous Revolutionary War crossing and the surprise attack against the British, to New Hope for lunch, and back along a different route.

This urban adventure goes down the Jersey side of the Hudson and offers spectacular views of Manhattan. You'll start by going thru a couple of very pleasant neighborhoods, with a pit stop at a cafe/boutique (don't buy anything more than you can carry!). Once you get onto JFK Boulevard, stop a couple of times for photos. Then look for all the history along the route: the site of Burr & Hamilton's duel, with a statue depicting it; several moving 9/11 monuments; WWII monuments; Black Tom Island.
