The route starts at Grant's Tomb at 122nd St and Riverside. Then up Riverside Drive to the GWB, north along Hudson Terrace to East Palisades.  Then, we go west to North Woodland Street, but rather than turning right and going north, we turn left and head south on South Woodland Street. It goes down to Leonia and through Overpeck County Park where the Hackensack River becomes Overpeck Creek.

Take a lovely suburban route to Historic New Bridge Landing on the Hackensack River. This site passed back & forth through British and American hands during the Revolutionary War and now contains the Steuben House, the Campbell-Christie House and other historic buildings. After touring the site and reading the historical markers, continue on to lunch at the River Edge Diner - a classic New Jersey diner and bakery. Cycle home on side roads, climbing Walnut to return to the GW Bridge. Mapped route starts & ends at Grant's Tomb.

Extension of Trenton/New Hope-Lambertville/Trenton route. Ridden hard, this is a very good workout for all levels as gravel surfaces offer resistance, and there are few interuptions. Winds can blow up and down the river valley. In fair weather winds tend to be on your tail on the return.

Starting at Grant's Tomb, this ride goes to the site where American troops were massacred by the British. A series of plaques tells the story. There are picnic tables at the site.** Lunch can be purchased at one of two delis or two bagel shops around the intersection of Rivervale Rd. and Westwood Ave. There are no bathrooms at the historic site, so stop at Pascack Brook Park before buying lunch. On route home, there’s another pit stop at a park on Westwood Ave. Easy B or C ride. Can be shortened for C ride by starting or ending at NY side of GW Bridge.

Mid-18th Century New World Dutch barn – contains exhibit on the history of agriculture in Bergen County.  Lunch is at an excellent diner. This route is a little more challenging than the other History Rides and is better for a B ride.  pdf cue sheet from RWGPS has more accurate mileage.

Historic mid-19th Century African-American burial ground with markers and plaques that tell the history. Call ahead to arrange for the cemetery to be open and an historian to meet you there (201-336-7267). Lunch at Palermo's Cafe & Bakery immediately after your history lesson. There's a coffee/pit stop in West Englewood at mile 11, but the town closes down on Saturdays and Jewish holidays. In that case, detour down to Palisade Ave. and stop at the Field House in Milton Votee Park. Then you can stay on Palisade all the way to the right turn onto E. Main St.

A pleasant and relaxed ride to DeWint House, where General George Washington had his headquarters a couple of times during the Revolutionary War. It's also where Major Andre was hanged as a spy. There's a museum and the original house which is furnished as it would have been in Washington's time. Picnic tables on the back lawn by a gurgling stream, so stop at the deli in Tappan to pick up lunch. (Don't forget your musette bag to carry lunch a half mile.) Plan to spend a little time at the site.
