Great for an early evening ride to catch the sunset and the twinkling lights of Manhattan, this route crosses no fewer than 15 city bridges over its 25 miles.  Please note that park bathrooms listed may close after dusk, and there are several places where you have to carry your bike up and down stairs.

The route starts at Grant's Tomb at 122nd St and Riverside. Then up Riverside Drive to the GWB, north along Hudson Terrace to East Palisades.  Then, we go west to North Woodland Street, but rather than turning right and going north, we turn left and head south on South Woodland Street. It goes down to Leonia and through Overpeck County Park where the Hackensack River becomes Overpeck Creek.

This is a nice route to use during the COVID shutdown. It's not too busy on the weekends, so if you don't want to go over the GW Bridge you can still get in a pleasant ride. It takes a short route thru the Bronx that isn't totally urban. Then it eventually takes you onto the South County Trailway - the good section that's not bumpy. There are several pit stops, but no lunch stop. Bring decent snack food. On the way home you can stop at Lloyd's Carrot Cake for a sweet treat.

An easy, flat ride thru Brooklyn neighborhoods to Shirley Chisholm Park. Bring snack food and picnic in the park or on one of its piers. This is a recently renovated park with lovely trails (some paved, some gravel) down to the waterfront and a couple of piers. There are also picnic tables and porta sans in various locations. Check out the map of the park:  https://parks.ny.gov/parks/attachments/ShirleyChisholmShirleyChisholmStateParkMap.pdf.

We are exploring all the Queens waterfront we can find on this ride, and many different neighborhoods, all identified on your cue sheet.  We start with Queensbridge, Rainey, & Socrates Sculpture Park, and Hallet’s Cove. After we leave Astoria we cruise through Jackson Heights and catch the Flushing Bay Promenade with a wonderful view of Flushing Bay and LaGuardia Airport.  Our ride to Beechhurst is through picturesque neighborhoods to Little Bay Park greenway with a spectacular view of the waterfront beneath the Throgs Neck Bridge.
