The Department of Transportation has been aggressively laying the foundation to promote cycling as a viable mode of transportation through infrastructure, policy, and promotion. Under the de Blasio Administration many great achievements have occurred or are in the works to further the growth in cycling. This presentation will review many of these achievements with a focus on 2016 work, including protected bike lanes, greenway expansion, and bike share, and much more.
Hayes Lord is the Senior Transportation Manager at the New York City Department of Transportation with 20 years of experience developing sustainable transportation projects. Mr. Lord has been responsible for supervising project development and implementation and the installation of bicycle parking facilities. Prior to joining the City, he spent 6-1/2 years in the private sector developing bicycle and pedestrian plans and traffic calming projects for municipalities in New Jersey. He started his professional career at the New York City Department of City Planning, Transportation Division developing greenway and pedestrian projects.Connolly’s/NYCC Beer Happy Hour
