You need to fuel yourself properly in order to train and complete the SIG rides AND feel energized. How do you do that? What is the latest scientifically proven sports nutrition for cycling? Not only that, what should you eat at those long mid-ride diner stops? What and how much should you drink? What about days when you don’t exercise? Reyna Franco, sports dietitian nutritionist, NYCC member and past SIG participant and leader, will provide you with the nutrition information you need to eat properly before, during and after your rides so that you can meet your goals.</p> <p>Reyna Franco Bio:</p> <p><img alt="" src="/sites/default/files/reyna.jpg" style="width: 211px; height: 246px; float: left; margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;">Reyna Franco is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with a MS in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Columbia University. She is a certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD). She has been in private practice for 12 years and provides sports and medical nutrition therapy. Her athletes range from beginners to Olympic hopefuls. Her nutrition expertise includes sports nutrition, women’s health, gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, heart disease, food intolerances, renal disease, children’s nutrition and oncology. In addition, she is the corporate wellness dietitian for Ogilvy and Mather. Reyna also teaches an online graduate level course “Holistic Health Promotion” at Rutgers University.</p> <p>Reyna has been a NYCC member since 1989. She completed the A SIG in 1995 and led the A SIG in 2007. She was the NYCC treasurer for 2 years in the early 1990s and coordinated the Berkshire weekend for 9 years. She bike raced in the mid 1990s and now races triathlons, trail/road running races and marathons. When she isn’t biking or running, you might find her skiing, hiking or rock climbing.
