October 2015 Club Meeting: How to Keep Rolling Through the Winter
When: Tuesday, October 13, 2015, 6-9:00PM (program from 7-8)
Where: Connolly's Pub & Restaurant, 121 West 45 Street (between 6th & Broadway), 3rd floor
What: Do I need studded tires? A special bike? What do I wear? What's a "fat" bike? We'll cover everything you need to know to keep you rolling on daily commutes, weekend club rides and epic outings on snow-and-ice covered roads and trails.
BarMitts, a longtime NYCC supporter, has generously donated a dozen sets for our October Meeting. Sets to be raffled off to members after the presentation.
Stan Avedon is the General Manager of Hastings Velo, located by the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail. A former Cat 3 racer, Stan still loves to ride and compete in road, mountain and cyclocross races and the occasional triathlon. Stan is a Level 3 USA Cycling coach and Serotta International Cycling Institute Pro Bike Fitter.
NYC Velo has stores in the East Village and at Gotham Market West. Our priority is to deliver superior customer service, treating each customer as a valued member of the NYC Velo community. We offer professional bike fitting services -- free for bicycles purchased from us and at reasonable rates for others. We are active in local cycling events and work with groups like TA, IMBA and People for Bikes. We regard cycling not just as a hobby, but a lifestyle with health, social, and environmental benefits. Our entire NYC Velo staff is committed to cycling to work daily.
New York Cycle Club, founded in 1936, is the largest such club in the city, an all-volunteer recreational cycling organization that offers its 2,000 members rides at all pace levels; weekend trips; a nationally recognized spring training program; monthly meetings featuring important speakers in the field. NYCC offers a full calendar of special events, in a friendly environment where you'll meet other, like-minded cycling NY-ers.
