Design and List Your Own NYCC Ride!

View

Any club member can propose and lead a club ride.  What’s stopping you?

Here's the recording for the meeting all about how to lead a ride.

NYCC’s Board and leadership want to strongly encourage and support all members and especially SIG and STS grads in designing and leading their own club rides this season.   We are developing programmatic support, but this Tuesday offer a timely “peek behind the curtain” of club ride-leading at our monthly meeting, over dinner and drinks, at Connolly’s (for those who can’t make it, we are setting up a simulcast via Zoom).  For many of us, leading rides is the best part of being an NYCC member!

You’ll hear from experienced (and rookie) NYCC leaders themselves how to conceive, design, route, list, and lead you own ride.  In just one hour, and from numerous leaders, we’ll cover the following topics:

·  selecting a ride destination/using the ride library;

·  trains, ferries and other adjunct transportation;

·  the basics of routing (secret: the answer rhymes with “routing”);

·  how to draft an appealing and transparent ride listing;

·  how to handle rest stops, bailouts, mechanicals and drops as a leader; and

·  the nuts and bolts of submitting and approving proposed group rides.

One of our club’s great strengths is a scale allowing richly diverse ride offerings—sometimes 10 or more rides per weekend in the high season — as long as there are leaders willing to lead them!  This Tuesday, we’ll show you how easy it is to do it.

Agenda: Doors open at 6:00, program starts 6:30, program ends at 7:30, doors close at 8:00.

Location: Third Floor of Connolly’s Pub, 121 West 45th Street (bet. 5th/6th Aves.) NYC

Remote Attendance: We encourage everyone who can to join us at Connolly’s.  We are also trying a hybrid approach this month, enabling Zoom participation as well.  To participate by Zoom, you must use the following link and register in advance to attend.  You will not get the link to attend, unless you register:  Register in advance for this meeting:
