No mileage, you will need a map. Hilly. "Vogel Route" which loosely translates into a worthwhile adventure with some hard pack thrown in. Or, as Jeff says, "A "Vogel Route" means it has beautiful scenery and very low traffic but a total disregard for road surface and "tilt" of the road. This route has 3 sections of 16-17% grades. If that doesn't make it a "5" what does?"
Tons of climbing, lots of it steep; and we always see more wildlife than cars once we turn off of Rte 28 at Bellayre. The downside is that you have to do at least 8 miles on Rte 28 each way. I'm sure I could find more climbing, or a better way back to Phoenicia if you wanted to do 100 miles.
You will need to access this ride from a car unless it is a multiday ride out of Poughkeepsie.
