Ken's notes:

This route has the nickname East Side Zipper because it alternates up the bridges on the east side of Manhattan.  Ride starts on the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, then Manhattan, Williamsburg and Queensboro.  Next stop is on beautiful Randalls Island then up the Harlem river with 5 more bridges.  There 12 river crossing in all with lots of fantastic views.

Best to study route on map beforehand as there are many turns and viewpoints.

This is not a fast 41 miles.

An easy, flat ride thru Brooklyn neighborhoods to Shirley Chisholm Park. Bring snack food and picnic in the park or on one of its piers. This is a recently renovated park with lovely trails (some paved, some gravel) down to the waterfront and a couple of piers. There are also picnic tables and porta sans in various locations. Check out the map of the park:  https://parks.ny.gov/parks/attachments/ShirleyChisholmShirleyChisholmStateParkMap.pdf.

This is a gorgeous ride from central New Jersey to the NJ Coast along scenic lesser travelled roads.  The ride starts at the Princeton Junction New Jersey Transit Station.  From there you head east through central New Jersey towns like Cranbury and  Englishtown, and tour lots of quiet and scenic farm country before hitting the famous Jersey Shore.
