This access is the shortest entry to both singletrack and the main park access roads. Yes, you can certainly stay on Washington Street, passing Hoover and then a left on Lounsbury Lane and enter the park. However, shorter is better.

What to say about the Osborn Loop?

Too many things, and not enough. 

For the most part it is quite rideable, it is emensely satisfying to ride, it is convenient to a rail heads, it has some fine views, it follows the AT for a section, the loop itself neither says or denys bike riding permissible. But it is ridden on bikes by many.

Note: I have changed the entrance to Ringwood as all accesses to the park directly from NY State are now illegal. The new singletrack that is now part of this route will add a mile but is much nicer. However, the trails and their markings get confusing. As you can see from the Waypoints listing, the singletrack into Ringwood off Mill Pond Rd changes trail markings a lot. To get an approximate visualization of where these change, go to the Sloatsburg Access to Ringwood State Park route in the Mountain Bike section of this Ride Library.
