This has been revised as all access to Ringwood directly from NY State is now deemed illegal due to private property concerns.

The single track is quite rideable, but you will either need to keep an eye open for changing trail markings or follow your prompts on your GPS device. But understand that the places the trail marking change on the map are approximate.

Water is in restrooms at Skylands Manor area on map.

Kind of a slog on a mtn bike, but it will get you there.

You could use this to do a loop on a road bike:

at mile 8.4 take a right onto East Shore Rd, taking you up the eastern side of Greenwood Lake

follow to Rt 17A and take a right over Hogback,

Pick up Long Meadow Road on the right before Rt 17 and follow south back to Sterling Mine Rd.

Otherwise, remember that you still have 10.5 miles to go to catch the train home at Sloatsburg after mtn biking.

The simplest route in the Ride Library. And only one hill!

Note School Mtn Road access is a left on Rt 9 and a right onto the access road.

Other points of access exist: East Mtn Rd, Dicktown Rd and Wiccopee Rd. But not on this page.

Note: subsequent to the posting of this ride, the trail in Ninham SP has been altered. A new foot trail begins off Gipsy Trail where the section described below begins as well. The new trail obscures the old route to Coles Mills Road. Should someone sort this out, please get back to me with details. In the meantime, should you become flustered, just ride up the access road to the parking lot on the road to the fire tower and continue the route. HS 4/27/2021

This route is not a full destination ride as by itself it is less than 4 miles. You could hike it, but would probably just access the summit via the Appalachian Trail from 9d. This is an old carriage road, severely eroded, but a satisfying challenge on mtn bike.

Directions only are given for one way, but as it is an out and back, you will have no problem reversing the route to the start.
