Note: I have changed the entrance to Ringwood as all accesses to the park directly from NY State are now illegal. The new singletrack that is now part of this route will add a mile but is much nicer. However, the trails and their markings get confusing. As you can see from the Waypoints listing, the singletrack into Ringwood off Mill Pond Rd changes trail markings a lot. To get an approximate visualization of where these change, go to the Sloatsburg Access to Ringwood State Park route in the Mountain Bike section of this Ride Library.

The singletrack is a loop of about 7 miles. This access is shorter than the parking lot off Long Meadow Rd.

And what a fine singletrack this loop is! We are so fortunate to have a venue such as this so accessible to a railhead.

Might I suggest either doing a loop around the Sterling Lake, out of the western parking lot access, or combine it with mountain biking in Ringwood, catching the train back in Ramsey?

This is the access to the original cycling and hiking venue. The main trail goes around the lake, which is strikingly beautiful. It does not directly access the newly built singletrack, which is on the eastern side of Long Meadow Rd. However, you can do that if you stay on Long Meadow Rd past the turn for the visitor's center and look for the parking area on the right.

Quite a pleasant route; open country and good shoulders where you need them.

You can opt to take the next left off Long Meadow Rd into the park, especially if you are on a thinner tired bike.

Depending on time of day, cyclists can be marginalized on Jackson. Take care.

But certainly a very easy access to serious mountain bike terrain from the city.
