The proper name for this road is Henry Hudson Drive, but we in the NYCC and the rest of the NYC cycling world call it River Road.

This is a ride past the mansions and roller coaster like roads in Greenwich.

There are no major climbs on this route but expect a lot of rollers.

Bail option at the Bedford Hills Railroad station at mile 56.

Original route routed up Greenwich rather than Stamford and Rt 137, which has become less bike friendly than when this ride was created.

Thanks to Bob Schmon for submitting this route, popular with the A STS set. It covers a lot of ground and goes up and down.

If you are running late for your train back at Peekskill, you can take a right at mile 79.4 onto Washington St, where W Mt Airy becomes Furnace Dock, and follow Washington to a left on Hudson Ave in Peekskill. You will see a sign there directing you to the train station.

This is a fairly short ride with a lot of climbing, but it's an excellent way for strong C-riders and slower B riders to enjoy the back roads and splendid views of Westchester County. The ride begins at the comfort station in Sachkerah Woods Playground at Jerome Ave & W Gun Hill Rd in the Bronx. Take the #4 train to Mosholu Pkwy or Woodlawn, or take the D train to 205th St Norwood.

Credit for this route goes to John Z.
June 28, 2022: NB: Erosion on the Awosting Portal is deepening, making climbing a bit more difficult, but the descent in places is now in the technical realm.

Note of December 2022: The Hudson River Greenway north of 181st St to Dyckman St is closed due to reconstruction; it needs it! Recommended re-route is 182nd St overpass> 181st St> Cabrini north> 190th St> Overlook Terrace> 187th St>Broadway, north> Bennett Av>. You will be doing the first half of the descent from Ft Washington Ave on Overlook to 187th to Broadway going north, then taking a left onto Bennett. You will now be back on the route. I did not update the GPS file or the cue sheet.
