Hilly way out beginning on Bradley which is not fully ascended as the route takes a left onto Schuyler. Please note that these hills are not suitable for winter riding if ice is prevalent.

Cue sheet has notes on turns and hazards.

This route is a good representation of what the NYC metro area has to offer in an out and back ride over varied terrain and esthetics.

7200' vertical gain. Map included on original cue sheet. Water stops not listed on this cue sheet are in carosel or in Bear Mtn Inn and Tiorati Circle.

Check Metro North for up to date train times.  This clever route includes great climbs on both sides of the Hudson. The hard pack section of Old Albany Post Road on this route is virtually unchanged since Washington marched his army on it. Look for original mile marker on the right.

Bull Mtn Pond/Proctoria/Lake Frederick Rd is closed so RWGPS route goes directly onto Rt 293 from Rt 6.

Route with 2 endings on the different RWGPS routes. The main link is the Peekskill ending, the Southeast ending is listed just under waypoints, above.

Orchard lunch stop. Did I say beautiful roads and lots of hills? Well, not hilly by John's standards but hilly enough for mere mortals. "Who could ask for anything more?"

This route requires determined riders who need to be diligent with their time as the first section is hilly and slow, the overall distance is great and limited hours of daylight are cut by 2 hours of riding time on trains each way. Plus, prevailing westerly winds tend to generate headwinds in final 2 legs. 5500' vertical gain on full route. Metro North bike pass required. Check current train times for both stations. Hardpack sections in first leg till climb up Mt Washington Rd, MA Includes bailout option to Wassaic (81 mile total ride).

Options to bypass AV descent and Long Mtn and Perkins climbs, but why?

Metro North rail pass needed for return from Peekskill.

Water available at the carousel at Bear Mtn, before and on the same side as the Bear Mtn Inn, on the left just past the Bear Mtn traffic circle below the hairpin.

Sadly, Mine Torne Rd may be closed to non-military use. Route now goes up 9W/Rt 218.

Mtn Rd above Cornwall on Hudson at mile 57 should wake you up.
