The Bash Bish ascent is quite steep. Without proper gearing you will either suffer or walk.

Thanks John Semel for converting this route to RWGPS!

Located near the NJ/PA border, this is a ride through the back roads of equestrian country. It is a very challenging 52 mile ride consisting of 14 climbs totaling 6,600 vertical feet. The hills are quite steep, so please be prepared to have adequate low gearing. A 39x25 or lower gear is recommended. Please refer to the cue sheet and map, hill profiles included, for more details. Most turns are either 1st left/right or at the end of the road.

There is no way to access Black Rock Preserve on a bike without an ascent. Mtn Rd goes right for your jugulars, but it is paved. The culvert tunnel under Rt 9W at the top of Mtn Rd is the rabbit hole into this wonderland.

A bike permit is required for Black Rock Preserve.

Hilly way out beginning on Bradley which is not fully ascended as the route takes a left onto Schuyler. Please note that these hills are not suitable for winter riding if ice is prevalent.

Cue sheet has notes on turns and hazards.

This route is a good representation of what the NYC metro area has to offer in an out and back ride over varied terrain and esthetics.

7200' vertical gain. Map included on original cue sheet. Water stops not listed on this cue sheet are in carosel or in Bear Mtn Inn and Tiorati Circle.

Check Metro North for up to date train times.  This clever route includes great climbs on both sides of the Hudson. The hard pack section of Old Albany Post Road on this route is virtually unchanged since Washington marched his army on it. Look for original mile marker on the right.

Bull Mtn Pond/Proctoria/Lake Frederick Rd is closed so RWGPS route goes directly onto Rt 293 from Rt 6.
