This urban ride is so much fun!  It takes us through the parks, greenways, and scenic residential streets of Brooklyn and Queens to Rosedale, which is on the border of Queens and Nassau County.  Bay House, our lunch spot, is right under the flight path into JFK.  Planes flying into JFK are coming in for a landing and flying so low it is said that you can see the pilots’ name tags through cockpit windows.  Finally, a chance to check things out from the other side of that airplane window.  There is a sign on the waterfront dock

Scenic ride through diverse 'hoods, including Prospect Park, Ft. Tilden and the Rockaways, over neat bike paths, with beaches and shorelines along the Atlantic Ocean.  There will also be some sobering parts, such as Breezy Point, the Flight 587 Memorial, Long Beach Boardwalk (newly reopened one year after Sandy), and Point Lookout. Mostly paved or wooden boardwalk (though with just a teensy bit of rough roads plus some stretches with a bit of wind-blown sand).  Finish at local fave Gino's of Long Beach (pizza) across from the LIRR station.

From Mattituck train station, near historic Love Lane, head east through the picturesque North Fork towns of Cutchogue, Peconic, Southold, Greenport, and East Marion to Orient Point. Many of the roads travel along the water / with water views.

This ride starts at the Boathouse and takes the Brooklyn Bridge out of NYC. The ride cruises the south shore of Long Island by the ocean along Merrick Blvd and parallel to Sunrise Highway (Montauk Century route) until turning inland at Bellmore. It then heads over to the north shore through Roslyn and out to the tip of Sands Point via Shore Road to the Port Washington train station for a one-way trip to NYC. Metro North/LIRR bike pass and one way train fare is required.  RWGPS route uses more bike lanes in Manhattan & Brooklyn than author's original cues.
